It’s getting colder and the days are getting shorter, but don’t worry: during the winter months, Mechelen will keep you warm. The historic city centre of Mechelen is being transformed into a magical Christmas city where shopping, local delicacies and festive fun go hand in hand.

During the winter months, there are cosy markets at various locations in Mechelen. From heartwarming treats to fun gift ideas, these markets offer a festive experience for everyone.

Opening hours:

Friday: 5 pm to 11:30 pm
Saturday: 3 pm to 11:30 pm
Sunday: 2 pm to 11 pm

Shopping in the Festive Season

For added convenience, the shops are also open every Sunday in December. The winter sales start on Thursday 2 January, so the shops will also open their doors on Sunday 5 January.

Mechelen on Fire: Winter magic for young and old

Prepare to be dazzled by the various fire performances as you walk through the city centre. This event is a collaboration between local traders, the hospitality industry and associations , and creates a warm atmosphere in and around Mechelen.
At every location there are welcoming drink and food stalls to keep you warm

When: Friday 20 and Saturday 21 December 2024

Mirage Winterbar: Wintering together in the heart of Mechelen

Pure Scandinavian vibes, live music and cosy winter feelings. Enjoy sparkling parties or fun performances with friends and family in the town hall courtyard.
