Kunsthal Mechelen

Kunsthal Mechelen spreads over various locations throughout Mechelen, both indoors and outdoors. As a versatile arts centre, it offers a safe home for many voices and faces. The program is flexible and constantly searches for new forms. Kunsthal Mechelen wants to be a hospitable meeting space with an eye for local developments.

EXPO: 'The Last Place They Thought Of' from 14/12/24 till 2/03/25:

“The Last Place They Thought Of” explores and thinks about notions of territory and space from a black and female or non-binary perspective, offering stories rarely told and not shared enough. This exhibition is curated by Sorana Munsya. Its title is taken from a chapter in intellectual Kathrine McKittrick's essay and invites us to reflect on the possibility of a black conceptualization of geography, in opposition to what the latter calls traditional, non-black geography.

EXPO: 'Driedee: Hatching from Scratch' from 14/12/24 till 2/03/25:

'Driedee: Hatching from Scratch' is an exhibition which gathers a body of work by 28 artists, all selected through the open call Driedee. With varying backgrounds and creative practices, the work of these artists unfolds in the space of Kunsthal Mechelen, and invites the audience to sense and make sense of their diverse interpretations of three-dimensionality.
