Maanrock 2025: Accessibility

Temporary traffic measures in and around Mechelen city centre during Maanrock.


Between 17 and 27 August, temporary traffic measures will be in place in and around the city centre of Mechelen for the set-up, the Maanrock festival itself, and dismantling.

🚗 Where can I park?

These car parks remain easily accessible:

  • Parking Kathedraal

  • Parking Hoogstraat

  • Parking Lamot

  • Peripheral car parks: Keerdok, Komet, Bruul, Maarten, Zandpoortvest, NMBS, and Tinel

If you park at a peripheral car park, make use of the free Shopping Shuttle provided by the City of Mechelen. You can find all information on this page.

During Maanrock, you can park affordably at the NMBS car park in Mechelen: only €10 for 24 hours.


🚫 These car parks will be partially or completely restricted:

  • Parking Grote Markt
    Closed from 22 August at 8:00 until 25 August at 6:00

  • Parking Blauwhondstraat (subscriptions)

    • 18–21 August (until 19:00): accessible via Lange Schipstraat and Bruul

    • 21 August (from 19:00) to 25 August (6:00): completely closed

  • Parking Veemarkt
    Not accessible from 22 and 23 August at 16:00 and 24 August at 12:00 until the end of the festival
    Exit remains possible

🚫 Where is parking prohibited?

Parking bans apply at the following locations and times:

  • 14–28 August: Sint-Katelijnestraat (opposite TSM)

  • 16–26 August: Area in front of the post office building

  • 21–25 August:

    • Lange Schipstraat (nos. 26–40)

    • Korte Schipstraat

    • Leermarkt (between nos. 24 and Botermarkt)

    • Melaan (between nos. 14–16, 26–36 and 10–12)

  • 22–25 August:

    • Zoutwerf (nos. 17–28)

    • Veemarkt (nos. 29–35)

    • Keizerstraat

    • F. de Merodestraat (at KA campus Stassart)

♿ Alternative parking spaces for people with disabilities:

  • Voochtstraat: from 22 to 25 August

  • Melaan: from 16 to 26 August


🚦 Where and when do traffic measures apply?

During set-up: 18 Aug (7:00) to 22 Aug (16:00)
During dismantling: 25 Aug (7:00) to 27 Aug (18:00)

No traffic in:

  • IJzerenleen (between Blauwhondstraat and Steenweg)

  • Steenweg (between IJzerenleen and Parking Grote Markt)

  • Grote Markt

  • Botermarkt

  • Bruul (between Botermarkt and Grote Markt)

Two-way traffic in:

  • Bruul (between Botermarkt and Lange Schipstraat)

  • F. de Merodestraat (between Grote Markt and Varkensstraat)


During the festival: 22 Aug (16:00) to 25 Aug (7:00)

No traffic in:

  • Bruul (between Lange Schipstraat and Grote Markt)

  • Guldenstraat (except local traffic towards Parking Lamot)

  • Zoutwerf (between Guldenstraat and Maalderijstraatje)

  • Blauwhondstraat, Geitestraat, Borzestraat, Schaalstraat

  • Botermarkt, Steenweg, Befferstraat

  • F. de Merodestraat (between Varkensstraat and Grote Markt)

  • Veemarkt, Keizerstraat, Hallestraat, Zakstraat

  • D. Boucherystraat, Reuzenstraat, Grote Markt

  • Standonckstraat, IJzerenleen, Begijnenstraat

Two-way traffic in:

  • ’t Plein

  • Zoutwerf (between Maalderijstraatje and ’t Plein)

  • De Biest

  • Lange Schipstraat


🔄 Diversions:

  • Zoutwerf (closed):

    • Entry via Moensstraat – Gebr. Verhaegenstraat

    • Exit via Gebr. Verhaegenstraat – O.L.V. Kerkhof – Louizastraat

  • Lange Schipstraat: only accessible via Vijfhoek

  • Keizerstraat: local traffic only via F. de Merodestraat → Korte Maagdenstraat
