Water in the streets

Attention: Due to storm damage, the Vlietenkelder is closed indefinitely.

Water once brought prosperity to the city. Find out why the River Dyle was the lifeblood of Mechelen as you and your group explore the Melaan and other typical inlets from the plank bridges along the river banks.

Walk includes a visit to the Spuihuis watermill or the Vlietenkelder

Your guide will take you via the Ijzerenleen, past the Botanic Garden to the Molenhuis and Spuihuis mills and via the Dyle Path and the Haverwerf to the Grote Markt. A visit to the restored Spuihuis or the Vlietenkelder/underground water chamber is an additional attraction on this guided tour (available every day on request, except Saturdays).
