the Predikheren

The Predikheren is Mechelen’s new and dynamic temple of culture, a source of encounters, collaboration, art, culture and literature. The building’s long and fascinating history combined with its respectful restoration, which has left as many readable layers of its past as possible, make the former Dominican monastery one of the most magical libraries in Flanders. In “the largest living room in the city” everyone can become part of the story.

According to the International Federation of Library Associations, The Predikheren is one of the top five most beautiful libraries in the world.

The Predikheren is part of the Tinel site. Here, in addition to the Kazerne Dossin, you will also find the Tinel park: a colourful place where you can cool off in the summer thanks to the refreshing greenery and water. Children can enjoy themselves in the water, while you catch your breath on the ‘longest bench in Mechelen’.
