Mechelen is abuzz with activity this summer! A summer of fun, adventure and relaxation! Dance into the early hours or while away a balmy evening in the park. Mechelen has everything you need for an unforgettable summer. We look forward to welcoming you and to enjoying sun-drenched days and star-studded evenings together!  


The last weekend in August, the city centre makes way for Belgium’s largest free city festival. Spread across six different locations in Mechelen, it gives everyone the chance to take to the dance floor, no matter what their age or the vibe they are looking for. This year the headliners are: Admiral Freebee, Black Box Revelation, Merol and Pommelien Thijs. You will find the complete line-up here (in Dutch only).

The Botanical Garden in Mechelen is hosting a whole summer of free concerts. Every Thursday evening from 29 June to 17 August, a variety of artists will go the extra mile. There will also be performances on 9 July, 6 August and 12 August.

De Koer

Come and join in the dancing at the second De Koer festival on 23 and 24 June 2023! De Koer started out as a showcase for electronic music at Maanrock, but has since become an early- summer festival in its own right. Like last year, the Cultuurplein in the shadow of St Rumbold’s Tower will be transformed into a dance temple. Highlights from the line-up include: Ben Sims, Carista, Interstellar Funk, Forbidden Fruit, Sara Dziri, Driss Bennis and Polly F.

The three-day, travelling dance festival Dansstorm will round off the summer in Mechelen. Run by Danspunt and staged in several locations in the city centre from 15 to 17 September, Dansstorm presents all forms of dance: performances of existing and new dances, workshops, initiations and try-outs. Everyone is invited to give dance a chance, to watch, feel, breathe and experience dance for themselves.
