Jonas Tuch - The Muses for Muizen

The first part of Mechelen Muurt was initiated by the Mechelen street artist (and at the time city artist) Gijs Vanhee, who has also made his mark beyond our borders. Vanhee curated this second chapter of the project with fellow citizen Jonas Tuch.

Street art fans know Tuch from his wall painting in Blauwe Hondstraat in Mechelen city centre, but for Mechelen Muurt the artist headed for the nearby village of Muizen. On the façade of the Appelaar sports centre, he painted nine muses as a possible explanation for the origin of the village’s name.
