
Circuit Mechelen - hotel ruins in Vrijbroekpark
From the historic city centre of Mechelen, walk in the direction of Vrijbroekpark. Hidden in that green oasis, you will discover the ghost hotel, mysterious ruins with a unique urban atmosphere, impressive street art and fascinating fauna and flora. Follow the impressive hiking trail through the trees to the first floor of the ruins.

Following the route on foot
The walk starts at the Schepenhuis. Follow IJzerenleen over the Grootbrug and walk to the Korenmarkt. At the large mural, turn right onto Adegemstraat and follow it to Langhestraat. Walk into Langhestraat and turn left at the end and then immediately right. This will take you to Nieuwe Kapucijnenstraat. Follow this street until you reach the ring road and cross there at Brusselpoort. From Brusselsepoortstraat, take the second street on the right, Stuivenbergvaart. Follow this to Vrijgeweidestraat. Turn left here and follow all the way until you enter Vrijbroekpark. In the park, follow the indicated walking loops to the hotel ruins. Visit the hidden hotel ruins and enjoy the view. You can also opt to take a longer walk in the park. After the visit, return via the entrance and exit on Ridder Dessainlaan towards the town centre. Walk all the way down this street until you reach Brusselsepoortstraat again. Cross the street at Brusselpoort and walk through Hoogstraat to Moensstraat on your right. Follow Moensstraat until you pass Church of Our Lady-across-the-Dyle. Continue your walk via Onze-Lieve-Vrouwestraat and turn left at the end. Now you are on the Vijfhoek. Cross the Fonteinbrug and walk a little further through the large gate into the Botanical Gardens. Walk through the park following the bend to the left, where you will find the statue of Rembert Dodoens. Leave the Botanical Gardens via the small path and turn left into Hazestraat until you reach Bruul again. There you can make a loop through Lekkernijstraatje, Lange Schipstraat and Korte Schipstraat to admire some of the murals. Once back on Bruul, walk to Geitestraat. Turn left here and follow the road until you are back at the Schepenhuis.
