Guided tour of Breendonk Fort

Breendonk Fort is proof, if ever any was needed, that Belgium was not spared the horrors of Nazism. The fort, which is not far from Mechelen, served as a concentration camp for political prisoners, members of the resistance, Jews and others during the Second World War. As you visit the old sleeping quarters and interrogation rooms, you can well imagine the desperation of the prisoners held there for years.

Breendonk Fort is one of the best preserved Nazi camps in Europe and is certainly worth a visit. It will certainly leave a lasting impression.
