Breendonk Fort

Breendonk is proof, if ever any was needed, that Belgium was not spared the horrors of Nazism. The Fort, which is not so far from Mechelen, served as a concentration camp during the Second World War. As you visit the old sleeping quarters and interrogation rooms, you can well imagine the desperation of the prisoners held there for years.
