City map: Hidden Gems
Museum Hof van Busleyden is hosting the Hidden Gems exhibition, illustrating seven centuries of Mechelen chefs-d’oeuvre. On show are not far short of 100 items from different periods, including paintings, sculptures and goldsmiths’ work.
Over the centuries, Mechelen has become a veritable treasure trove for art lovers, with masterpieces by the likes of Rubens, Jordaens and Faydherbe. Moreover, the historic city centre is itself a cornucopia of riches. This map will be your guide as you stroll round the picturesque streets of the beguinages and UNESCO world heritage sites.
You will be stopping off along the way to admire the historic home of the painter of miniatures Mayken Verhulst and a triptych by a famous Flemish master in a Gothic church and discover the importance to the history of art of the Mechelen painter and sculptor Rik Wouters and of the Hospital Sisters.
Pick up your free copy of the Hidden Gems-city map at Museum Hof van Busleyden or at the tourist office. On presentation of this city map, you will receive a 2 euro discount when you visit St. Rumbold’s Tower.
